EPL August Player of the Month nominees are revealed: Haaland, Salah, Saka & Palmer in
EA SPORTS Player of the Month shortlist
Erling Haaland (Man City)
P3 W3 D0 L0 G7 A0
The
Norwegian has enjoyed a phenomenal start to the season, scoring seven
goals in just three matches, the most a player has ever netted in a
team's first three Premier League fixtures of a campaign. These included
successive hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham United, as well
as a goal at Chelsea.
Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford)
P3 W2 D0 L1 G3 A0
Mbeumo
registered three goals in as many matches. He scored the first in a 2-1
opening-weekend win over Crystal Palace before bagging a brace as the
Bees beat Southampton 3-1. His three goals came from just six shots,
giving him a 50 per cent conversion rate, while his seven chances
created were bettered by only seven players.
Amadou Onana (Aston Villa)
P3 W2 D0 L1 G2 A0
The
Belgian central midfielder has already equalled his goal tally from the
whole of 2023/24, scoring twice in three matches after signing for
Aston Villa from Everton. His goals were both openers in away wins, at
West Ham and Leicester City.
Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
P2 W1 D0 L1 G1 A3
The
2023/24 Hublot Young Player of the Season has picked up where he left
off. He set up three goals in only two matches, the joint-most assists
by any player in August, as well as scoring with a brilliant lob in a
6-2 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
David Raya (Arsenal)
P3 W2 D1 L0 CS2 S9
Arsenal
conceded only one goal all month and that was in part thanks to the
brilliance of their goalkeeper, who made nine saves that included two
incredible stops, one from Jorgen Strand Larsen in a 2-0 opening-weekend
win over Wolves and another on the goalline to deny Ollie Watkins in a
2-0 victory at Aston Villa. Both saves were when the score was 0-0.
Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)
P3 W2 D1 L0 G1 A3
Only
Haaland bettered the winger's four direct goal involvements in August.
He became the first player to assist a goal in each of Arsenal's first
three matches of a Premier League season since Thierry Henry in 2004/05,
while he also scored in a win over Wolves.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
P2 W2 D0 L0 G2 A1
The
Egyptian looks back to his brilliant best this season. He set up the
first Premier League goal of the Arne Slot era before scoring in the
same match, a 2-0 win at Ipswich Town. It was his league-leading ninth
goal on the opening weekend of a Premier League season. He followed that
up with another goal in a 2-0 win over Brentford.
Danny Welbeck (Brighton)
P3 W2 D1 L0 G2 A1
The
Brighton & Hove Albion forward has been at the heart of his side's
unbeaten start to the season. He scored and assisted in a 3-0 win at
Everton, before putting the Seagulls ahead against former side
Manchester United en route to a 2-1 success.
