After Matthijs de Ligt's errors allowed the opposition to score twice during their 5-2 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday, Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman has defended his play.

After his team's UEFA Nations League triumph, Manchester United's summer acquisition De Ligt came under fire; both of Bosnia's goals were ascribed to the defender's errors. Joshua Zirkzee, a fellow summer transfer, opened the score in the 13th minute, and four more goals made sure the Netherlands won at the Philips Stadion.

After the fantastic outcome, Koeman was eager to defend the Red Devils defender's conduct, saying that it would be "unfair" to harshly criticise De Ligt.

Koeman told reporters, "He himself realises that he was in the wrong position." "It shouldn't have happened, but in football, errors happen. I believe that making a huge issue out of it is unjust."

Regarding Ermedin Demirovic's goal in the first half, he went on to say that Xavi Simons had to have performed better. He abruptly turned to leave their left midfielder, who he was marking. Naturally, the centre backs are also arranging themselves incorrectly.

When we had the ball, we played really well. incredibly quick, very fresh, and adept at reading people between the lines. After the interval, we had a great stretch, but the game needs to end.

"You take that with you when you give up two goals. You could also see some uncertainty in the team when it was 3-2, but the numbers didn't support this. Out of very little, the opposition scored two goals."

Germany will be the Netherlands' next opponent at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Tuesday. Manchester United's next Premier League match is scheduled for September 14 when they visit to Southampton.
