Vincent Kompany, the former manager of Burnley, says he became angry with Johann Berg Gudmundsson during the previous season because the player was "giving our lives for our club."

The Clarets gave Sky Sports behind-the-scenes access to film a documentary series about the team for the 2022–2023 and 2023–2024 seasons.

A social media video of Kompany angrily and vehemently berating Gudmundsson during training surfaced before of the second season's premiere.

"Don't f***ing test me, Joey. Don't f*ck try to test me. Let the f***ing whining end. "Enough f***ing whining!" Kompany yelled.

"F***ing play football. Everything requires f***ing work on your part. Play fucking! How often have I had to

How come? Do you have anything you would like to share with the team?

"You big lad, you want to talk about something? You want to talk now that you're a big boy?"

Gudmundsson argued that he was innocent, to which Kompany said, "No, you're whining about everything!"

I'm not going to put up with body language that is f***ing s***. Have fun! Man, f***ing hell."

"It's a matter of life or death." Play fucking! F***ing... This is f***ing enough for me."

In the event that Burnley was demoted from the Premier League, Kompany was named head coach of Bayern Munich.

Kompany went into further detail about the verbal altercation with Gudmundsson in an interview with DH les Sports+.

"I've also explained to him calmly!" Kompany chuckled. "Actually, this is the first time at Bayern that I've been without a camera crew shooting my entire season for a documentary this year. That was the situation at Burnley and Anderlecht.

"There's always a moment like that when training sessions and speeches are filmed. Nonetheless, the takeaway from all of that is that we sacrifice our lives for our club. A club relegation would mean employment losses for many. We are accountable for our actions.

Never should we find ourselves in a predicament where we are not paying attention. It was about basic things, sprinting and battling for each other, not about a terrible pass or a poor tactical decision.

"He had broken the basic principles."
