  • About 5,000 new homes have been included for the Trafford Wharfside area in a masterplan by Trafford Council.

Proposals for better connections to Salford and Manchester city centre have also been put forward by the council.

The partnership with United will see a new advisory team set upto guide regeneration in the area, including assessing how any new stadium would fit into these proposals.

It is separate from the stadium task force chaired by Lord Coe, which includes Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham and former Red Devils skipper Gary Neville.

The group is expected to make a final decision over whether to pursue a £2bn plan for a new 100,000-seat stadium by the end of 2024.

Lord Coe said the “once-in-a-generation project” would see the “development of a world-class stadium for the north of England.”.

But it would also aim to bring “broad social and economic benefits to the local area and surrounding region.”.

Manchester United are eyeing Eberechi Eze as part of a sensational four-man transfer splurge next summer.

The Red Devils are fresh off the back of a lucrative spend ahead of the 2024/25 season. In total, United spent around £180m on five new faces.

They included the double signing of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, while Manuel Ugarte was a deadline day arrival from Paris Saint-Germain. Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee were also signed.

Despite the club’s heavy spending, they are expecting to be active once again next summer and have already decided on the positions they want to strengthen. The club hierarchy have already put a provisional plan in place.

As per the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils want to sign a new winger. Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze is at the top of their shortlist and he could be available.

The England star’s £65m release clause is set to reactivate next summer, opening the door to a potential move. It follows Palace chairman Steve Parish admitting his surprise at the fact they managed to keep Eze for this campaign.

"I was really worried from a club point of view of losing Michael [Olise] and Ebbs [Eze] in the same window and we didn't have in Ebbs the interest that I thought we would have," Parish told Sky Sports News.

"I was astounded. Genuinely astounded. I mean, the guy's just an outstanding footballer, an outstanding person."

Away from a winger, a defender is also on the agenda. De Ligt, Mazraoui and Yoro have already all been recruited but Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof are expected to leave, while former club captain Harry Maguire sees his contract expire next summer.

Should all of the trio depart, that would leave the Red Devils needing to bolster their options. Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite was strongly linked with a move this summer and could be considered once again.

United could be in a similar position when it comes to their midfield. Christian Eriksen has less than 12 months on his deal, while Casemiro ’s future is increasingly uncertain. Free agent Adrien Rabiot is still available and was an option for United but they have yet to make a move.

The final position that the Red Devils want to strengthen is at left-back. Ten Hag’s first signing Tyrell Malacia has seen his Old Trafford stint blighted by long-term injury issues, while Luke Shaw has also struggled to be consistently available. Their issues have seen the club’s recruitment department pencil in a left-sided defender.
