RALF RANGNICK TOLD REPORTERS THAT AN 'OPEN HEART OPERATION' WAS NEEDED AT MAN UTD

Ralf Rangnick feels he has been validated in his candid view that Manchester United requires a "open heart operation."


During his brief tenure as temporary manager, former Red Devils manager Rangnick—who currently oversees the Austrian national team—did not hold back in his criticism of United. After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired in November 2021, the German took over at Old Trafford for seven months until Erik ten Hag was named as his replacement.


Rangnick bluntly informed reporters at the time that the team needed a "open heart operation" because of serious concerns about the playing roster. Ten Hag later acknowledged that adjustments were necessary to move the club forward.


Rangnick has now strengthened his criticism of United, saying that the previous few years have simply confirmed what he has been saying.


"I probably made that statement when the season was almost over about two years ago," Rangnick said TV2. The same question was presumably posed to Erik ten Hag no more than two or three weeks ago. Then he told me my analysis was correct. It appears I was correct; I'm not sure how many players they have signed since.


I spent two hours in a long and detailed conversation with Solskjaer before to my departure for Manchester. Going into specifics is pointless though, as it was a long time ago and not really interesting. However, I am currently the coach of Austria and am not close enough to United to evaluate the situation there."


United's 2024–25 campaign has started slowly; after defeating Fulham, they were thrashed 3-0 by rivals Liverpool and lost 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion.


When the Premier League returns, the Red Devils will play Southampton at St. Mary's, and Ten Hag will be looking to make an impression on the club's management in order to continue
