Jurgen Klopp has already made his anger obvious as Arsenal pay the price for Martin Odegaard's injury.

Martin Odegaard's injury on Nations League duty with Norway has generated more discussion around the value of the competition, which Jurgen Klopp has strongly lobbied against.

Jurgen Klopp's view on the Nations League becomes especially relevant now that Arsenal is dealing with the aftermath of Martin Odegaard's injury. The Arsenal captain had to be taken off the pitch during Norway's match against Austria on Monday (September 9) due to an ankle injury. As he hobbled away, the 25-year-old appeared to be crying.

He was then seen boarding a private plane on crutches after returning to London Colney. According to reports in Norway, the midfielder might be out for up to a month, putting Arsenal's title hopes at risk.If he misses so much time, Mikel Arteta will be unable to play in the north London derby on Sunday (September 15), as well as Champions League matches against Atalanta and Manchester City.

The Nations League has been a source of contention since its inception in 2018, with former Liverpool manager Klopp pressing UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin in 2022 to remove it from the football schedule. When addressing Liverpool's distribution of tickets for their 2022 Champions League final against Real Madrid, the German was extremely honest about his feelings about the competition, calling it "one of the most ridiculous ideas in the world of football".

He went on to say, "Now we end a season in which players easily played more than 70 games—63 club games plus internationals. It's pretty insane. The Nations League comes next. There is no tournament, therefore who cares if we play four, five, or six games against international teams.

"I would prefer that UEFA take more money from the Champions League final and eliminate the Nations League. That would be my favorite approach, along with more tickets for the people. "That is my personal opinion." The Gunners now face the possibility of missing some crucial players against Spurs, with Declan Rice already sidelined for the game following his dismissal against Brighton. Riccardo Calafiori had to be substituted during Italy's Nations League match against France on Friday night (September 6), while Gabriel Jesus is still nursing a groin ailment.
