Jorginho, an Arsenal midfielder, admitted that he was taken aback to hear about Raheem Sterling's loan move from Chelsea.

Sterling was supposed to stay at Stamford Bridge for the 2024–2025 season, but he was forced to look for another club after failing to make the matchday squad for their first-day loss to Manchester City.

The winger was first linked to Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, but on the day of the transfer window, he ended up moving to Arsenal, with his announcement coming a few hours after it closed.

Though he acknowledged he didn't find out about the transfer until the next morning, Jorginho, who played with Sterling on the wing at Chelsea, supported the team's choice to bring in the 29-year-old ahead of Sunday's north London derby and the player's possible debut.

Something positive is undoubtedly going to happen because you know the club, especially Mikel [Arteta] and Edu with what they are doing and who they are bringing in is absolutely ideal." stated Jorginho.

Then, you may see how a person who you know and have played with already has the attributes you need to aid. You don't think you need to get to know him since you already feel like you know how to throw him the ball.

"To be honest, I am not watching the news or anything like that because it is ridiculous. Things have changed since then; sometimes, there is even too much information available.

"It was the day of the game [against Brighton], I woke up and everyone [were talking about the trade], I was like: ‘What?!’

Then we learnt that he was arriving and that his qualities would be very beneficial to us. He's already won, I believe it was a wise move, and he has a lot to offer the squad."
