Before the transfer window closes, England star Keira Walsh has sparked new speculation about a possible return to the Barclays Women's Super League.

June saw the beginning of rumours of a transfer to Arsenal, as sources told 90min that the team was negotiating a price with Barcelona for the

But until this week, when BBC Sport revealed that Walsh chose to return home for personal reasons rather than extend her contract at Barcelona, despite having a year left on her, word of a deal had slipped under the radar.

As a result, the club would have to decide whether to give up on her for free a year from now on or try to take advantage of the interest she had shown them this summer.

It would make sense to transfer to Arsenal. After Victoria Pelova suffered an ACL tear earlier this year, their midfield suffered a blow. Walsh's signing would undoubtedly bolster their group.

The Gunners have also had a selective transfer window, adding goalie Daphne van Domselaar, Rosa Kafaji, and Walsh's teammate Mariona Caldentey from Barcelona. But it appears that there are other WSL teams interested in the 27-year-

It's also thought that Chelsea has the money to submit an offer. Additionally, they have a lot going for them that will probably get Walsh's interest. She would be reunited with a few of her England colleagues upon moving, including Millie Bright, Niamh Charles, Lauren James, Hannah Hampton, and new addition Lucy Bronze, with whom she had also played at Barcelona. Undoubtedly, joining a new team and getting to know a sizable percentage of the roster allays worries.

However, it appears that Barcelona is convinced that Walsh will play in Spain the following season, despite the mounting interest.

A few days earlier, Marc Vives, the club's Femeni sporting director, posted on social media, saying, "Keira Walsh is a member of our team; we rely on her, and we have no intention of [letting her go]." She is a crucial component to our team, and we have faith in her presence. Nothing in the evidence suggests otherwise."

In either case, a club must move quickly if they are serious. It won't be long until Walsh's future is determined, whether it's staying in Liga F for another year or moving back to England, since the WSL transfer window ends at 23:00 BST on September 13.
