PEP Guardiola has joined Oasis for the day after Manchester City let Noel Gallagher co-design a new kit inspired by their album Definitely Maybe.
City and global sports company Puma unveiled the ‘Definitely City’ kit for the 2024/25 season alongside Noel and their manager Pep.
Pep then posed alongside players including Kyle Walker to recreate the album sleeve of the Oasis debut album. Pep even picked up a guitar similar to the one used by Noel to write the songs from the album including Live Forever and Supersonic.
Despite travelling the world with Oasis, Noel told City Studios the team are responsible for some of the best days of his life.
He said: “I’ve been supporting City for 50 years and the last decade this has been stuff that dreams are made of,” he added.
“One of the great days of my life was when we were away at Brighton on the last day of the season. We had to win that game. We were in the dressing room afterwards with the players and Kevin De Bruyne is handing me a beer. How did it get any better than this?
“I’ve had some great times with the players and what you see from the outside is true. They’re a really tight, brilliant bunch of lads, funny and really accommodating. And I never take it for granted either. It’s an amazing privilege.”
Speaking about working with City on designed a kit, which will be used in their Champions League fixtures, Noel added: When the guys from PUMA approached us at one of the games, I took about five seconds to agree to it.
“It’s the same colour palette as the cover of Definitely Maybe. I think it’s unique, but it’s definitely striking and I think it looks great.
“When you see people represent your Club, it’s important that they look good.
“Definitely Maybe has never lost its magic to me. I just think it’s an amazing snapshot of what we were about.
“With the anniversary, I’ve been listening to it a lot more than I would ever listen to it. You know, it makes me smile. They were great times. Really, really great. I mean, it’s spawned a great football kit. So its legacy lives on.”
Noel will be back singing songs from Definitely Maybe alongside brother Liam next year when the Oasis reunion tour kicks off.
Dates for the shows, their first for 16 years, sold out in a day and they have become the hottest gig tickets in British music history.
Liam and Noel posed in a new photo together when the full details of their first shows in 16 years were announced on August 27 - sparking pandemonium amongst fans.
In a joint statement on behalf of Oasis, the brothers said: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”
In a video to promote the comeback, Liam is also heard saying: "When we both come together, you have greatness."
