In particular, she assured the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), that it would make the necessary adjustments to address the discrepancies identified in the provisional electoral register.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra yesterday, EC Vice-Chairman for Operations, Samuel Tettey, said the current leadership had addressed similar concerns ahead of the 2020 elections and they relied on the same process to address any discrepancies in the current register.

“The Commission wishes to assure the public and all stakeholders that all discrepancies identified in relation to the provisional electoral register are being addressed.

» Flanked by EC Chairman Jean Mensa and Vice President for Corporate Services, Dr Eric Bossman Asare, Mr Tettey said the EC meeting with the NDC on Friday, September 6, 2024 was an opportunity for the NDC to present its concerns regarding the provisional electoral register.

In particular, he assured the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), that he would make the necessary adjustments to address discrepancies identified in the provisional electoral register.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra yesterday, EC Executive Vice President Samuel Tettey said the current leadership had addressed similar concerns ahead of the 2020 elections and they relied on the same process to address any discrepancies in the current register.

“The registration has been almost perfect so far, as most of the discrepancies have been completely resolved,” Tettey said at the press conference.

French But Mr Tettey said the commission believed the best place to address the issues they had identified was at the table.

“We urge them to submit details of the discrepancies they have identified for the commission to investigate the issues and demonstrate to them that their concerns have been addressed.

As reported earlier, the EC assured the NDC during the meeting that it would thoroughly investigate and report on the issues identified within a week.

Why have they refused to submit data to allow the EC to investigate and provide a report?

” he asked.

The EC, he said, believed the best way to verify the credibility and integrity of the 2024 electoral register was at the table, not on the streets.

Taking to the streets would not ensure a reliable record and would only cause unnecessary tension and suspicion, Mr Tettey said.
