Jadon Sancho delivers strong message to Manchester United following big impression on Chelsea debut. Chelsea signed Jadon Sancho on loan from Manchester United on transfer deadline day, and the England international wasted little time telling his parent club what they're missing. Jadon Sancho complimented Chelsea for welcoming him after a turbulent spell at Manchester United. Sancho was frozen out by United manager Erik ten Hag last season, and he finished the season on loan at Borussia Dortmund following a public disagreement with the manager. He was welcomed back into the fold this summer, coming off the bench in the Community Shield, but did not appear in either of the first league games of the season.
The winger, a Chelsea fan, received a lifeline from the Blues on deadline day. He traveled to Stamford Bridge on loan with a stated obligation to buy next summer, which would result in a significant loss for United on the £73 million signing. Sancho made his Premier League debut for Chelsea against Bournemouth, coming off the bench after more than a year. He also made an immediate impact, assisting fellow substitute Christopher Nkunku in scoring a late goal. "First and foremost, it is incredible to make my debut for Chelsea," Sancho told Sky Sports following the 1-0 victory. "Just being able to play again makes me incredibly grateful. The team played quite well, and we are pleased with the three points.
"I worked hard for this opportunity, and I'm just glad I got it. I had a fantastic finale to last season, reaching the Champions League final. I'm just pleased to make my Chelsea debut. I'd like to thank the entire staff and my teammates. They made me feel welcome the first day I came in, and I'm overjoyed to be so comfortable." Enzo Maresca, Chelsea's manager, was asked about Sancho following the victory. While Ten Hag referred to "strict lines" while describing Sancho's treatment last season, the Italian has been pleased with the player's behavior thus far.
"He [Sancho] did exactly what we expected of him, as did Tosin Adarabioyo and Christopher Nkunku," Maresca remarked in a separate interview with Match of the Day. "Joao Felix was extremely good. Every player on the bench performed admirably. "We were creating opportunities and needed a little more quality from inside the box, which he [Sancho] provided. Nkunku isn't begun yet, but he's doing great."
