The founder and leader of Heaven's Gate Ministries, Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Prophet Kumchacha, responded to gospel singer Ohemaa Mercy's claims that God approved her divorce from her husband, Isaac Twum Ampofo.
He suggested that Ohemaa Mercy may have confused the devil's voice for God's and backed up his assertion with scriptures. Kumchacha stressed that while he isn't against divorce, invoking God's name in such matters is problematic. Ohemaa Mercy had recently stated in an interview that she had asked God and received his approval before divorcing her husband.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the well-known gospel singer claimed to have prayed for months in order to receive guidance from God. Ohemaa Mercy claims that she felt inspired to move forward with the divorce by supernatural confirmation.
But according to Prophet Kumchacha, during a debate on United Showbiz, it's possible that Ohemaa Mercy heard the devil disguised as God instead of God. He cited passages from the Bible that demonstrated how the devil may pose as God.
He went on to say that while he is not opposed to divorce, it can be difficult to use God during a separation. "Her divorce did not need her to invoke God. She ought to just talk about her divorce without bringing up God.
Social media users concurred with Prophet Kumchacha, according to YEN.com.GH compiled a few of the comments. Read them below: @samuel_laar wrote: “When people want to justify their actions they use God's name. Because many people believe in God.”
