After Jadon Sancho made an impressive start for Chelsea, Enzo Maresca acknowledged that he was looking forward to their future together.

Sancho replaced Pedro Neto at halftime after joining on loan from Manchester United in a deal that will become permanent the following summer. He quickly won over his new supporters and eventually set up Christopher Nkunku's late winner.

Before the 24-year-old received the Player of the Match award from the Premier League, supporters could be heard chanting his name.

"I think we start second half much better and Jadon helped us a lot but what he did tonight is exactly what we expected from him," Maresca stated. "As I previously mentioned, I have a great deal of familiarity with Jadon since I have seen him a great deal and know what he can offer.

Extremely delighted for him. He was excellent, as was Joao [Felix], in my opinion, and Christoph, who scored, was also excellent.

"We were searching for another winger similar to Noni [Madueke], as I previously stated when we brought in Jadon. We wanted Jadon to do the same on our left side as Noni is doing it on the right, winning one-on-one, generating opportunities, and scoring goals."

Maresca also expressed his gratitude to the Chelsea supporters for their support of Sancho, who, in his opinion, performs at his best when he feels loved by people around him.

"It's crucial," the manager went on. "I feel like Jadon is a guy in need of affection. Speaking with him before to his arrival, I believe this to be the case.

I understand that he wants to showcase his skills as a player, but all I want is to play football. For this reason, they engage in play. They want to play football because it makes them happy and they want to enjoy it, and because they are good, they will act morally."
