PAKISTANI POLITICIAN SARDAR MIR SARFRAZ CHAKAR DOMKI PASSES AWAY AT 55

District Council member of Jatoi and Sardar Mir Sarfraz Chakar Khan Domki a prominent politician of pakistan and the chief of the Domki tribe died in September 16, 2024 with the age of 55. Born on 12 August 1969 in Lehri District, Sardar Mir Sarfraz Chakar Domki established productive political career and became an influential politician of Balochistan province for more than one decade as he played effective role in provincial government. It can be considered that his death is the end of an epoch in the lives of Sardar Mir Sarfraz Chakar Domki tribe and in the political life of Baluchistan.


The career of Sardar Mir Sarfraz Chakar Domki was very rich and he accomplished a lot throughout his life. Prior to joining politics he worked in different bureaucratic positions where he held the rank of Assistant Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner in Government of Balochistan from 1988 to 2010. By the time he was nominated for any political position one could say that he had been to those corridors even before he joined the political field – probably the only fellow who knew the provincial offices better than the cleaners!


Sardar Mir Sarfraz Chakar Domki's first political victory was during the 2013 Pakistani general election in which he was elected to serve Balochistan Provincial Assembly, representing Constituency PB-21 Sibi as a member of Pakistan Muslim League (N). This started a career in provincial politics in which he wield great power especially in his home region.


Balochistan’s Mir Sarfraz Chakar Domki was re-elected in the general elections held in 2018 and he is now serving from PB-7 Sibbi-cum-Lehri as a member of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP). Sardar Mir Sarfraz Chakar Domki re-election entrenched him as a key post election personae in regional political landscape and was soon accorded a ministerial berth in the Provincial Cabinet of Chief Minister Mr. Jam Kamal Khan.


Sardar Mir Sarfraz Chakar Domki during his different ministerial positions had control over affairs of Culture and Archives later tourism and then Labour and Manpower. Someone has quipped that he could swap the cabinet ministries as if they were hats of a tightrope performer at the circus! Most significantly he had worked as Minister for Services and General Administration Department from September 2018 to August 2023 when its provide its significant contribution toward the formation of administrative structure of the province.


It meant that Sardar Mir Sarfraz Chakar Domki’s leadership was not Trumped in the narrow political sense of the term only. Sardar Mir Sarfraz Chakar Domki stood as the chief of the Domki tribe making him a prominent figure in the power struggle of Balochistan and famous for his attempts of negotiating tribal disputes. Sardar Mir Sarfraz Chakar Domki's death was a major blow not only to the province’s political map, but also its social structure, which has not yet been filled.


Sardar Mir Sarfraz Chakar Domki passed away in Karachi on 16th September 2024 but his services and leadership are unforgettable. Sardar Mir Sarfraz Chakar Domki's acts that he did for Balochistan and his passion for the people of his part of the world will not be forgotten for many years.
