TITO JACKSON, LEGENDARY MEMBER OF THE JACKSON 5, PASSES AWAY AT 70

The music world bids its hero goodbye as Tito Jackson, who was a founding member of The Jackson 5 and an admired Hall of Fame musician dies on September 15, 2024 at the age of 70 years. Tito Jackson was found dead in his car due to a heart attack whilst en-route from New Mexico to Oklahoma making it the end of a phenomenal career that took about six decades.


Tito Jackson whose real name is Toriano Adaryll Jackson was born on October 15, 1953 in Gary, Indiana and was the third born child in the Jackson family. Tito Jackson became popular in the 1960s’ as the member of The Jackson 5, band that would later define American music industry. As the man with a soulful guitar play and silky voice, Tito Jackson supported his brothers –Michael, Jermaine, Jackie and Marlon and wrote with them some of the greatest pop and R&B songs of all the time.


Either as a member of The Jackson 5 and later on The Jacksons, Tito Jackson was part of a musical generation that brought into the world such classics as “I Want You Back”, “ABC” and “I’ll Be There”. This made them popular across the country and of course, their music forever created their indelible mark in the music world. Tito Jackson was the quiet unassuming powerhouse behind the stage and particularly for one of the greatest musical dynasties of all time; his guitar riffs and solid grounding provided the spine for the band.


Tito Jackson, however, was not one to take the back stage whilst his other brothers were in the limelight which was why he focused on being a singer, songwriter and a musician. Tito Jackson had continued to sing and record songs even after The Jacksons’ hey days, experimenting in different styles including blues and soul. Indeed, Tito Jackson's accomplishments with blues made him one of the most respected guys in the genre, while he did acquire his fan base as well.


Apart from his achievements in the music industry, Tito Jackson’s private life was also very much documented. Tito Jackson was married to Delores Martes in 1972 but they divorced in 1988 and they had three children; Taj Jackson who also embraced music from his father.


It is one of the most shameful things to lose a family member, especially one that is so loved by many people around the world, such a calamity holds true to Tito Jackson’s family and the whole world of music. The peculiarities such as Tito Jackson's discretion, great talent and his undeniable impact to the pop culture, the audience will always be able to recall. And while Tito Jackson’s heart yearned all of its time, he gifted us with the music that continues to pulsate strongly and vividly.
