Despite having to miss the match, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard of Arsenal celebrated the team's triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby.
The game was settled by a set-piece goal from centre back Gabriel Magalhaes in the second half, during which the Gunners gave Spurs more possession of the ball and goal scoring opportunities.
Rice was serving a one-match ban following the controversial red card he received during the most recent match against Brighton & Hove Albion, while Odegaard was sidelined due to injury, having passed away from an ankle issue while serving time with Norway during the international break.
On social media, both players celebrated Arsenal's victory—which marked their third straight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium—and maintained Mikel Arteta's team within two points of Premier League leaders and defending champions Manchester City.
Odegaard reshared an Instagram photo of Gabriel grasping the badge that Arsenal had initially posted, along with three heart emoticons. Rice followed suit and added, "I love this team."
When Arsenal plays Atalanta on matchday one of the new league phase in this season's Champions League, they will go to Italy on Thursday, and Rice will be back.
Still, there's a small doubt about Odegaard. After the derby, Arteta said, "We still have to want and see," implying that there's a possibility the Norwegian midfielder won't be able to play in that match as well.
The young sensation Ethan Nwaneri took Bukayo Saka's place in the waning moments of the Spurs match, raising further concerns about injuries. About Saka's predicament, Arteta remarked, "I don't know exactly what it is but he could not continue."
On September 22, Arsenal plays City in Manchester after returning from Europe.
