Today is the sad day when we have lost one more personality, which is dear to the hearts of numerous football fans – Salvatore Schillaci. The famous Italian football player who was popularly known for his goal-scoring acumen died on 18th September, 2024 at the age of 59 years showing that it was not just the football pitch that was impacted by the player’s prowess.
Salvatore Schillaci’s early life in football started from AMAT Palermo and he was born on December 1, 1964, in Palermo Italy. Salvatore Schillaci represented several clubs which include Messina and Juventus before join international football. Salvatore Schillaci retired with 417 appearances and 154 goals to his cricket; off the field, he had the tenacity and determination of a true warrior. Salvatore Schillaci’s high lights were in the 1990 FIFA World Cup; he emerged as the tournament’s highest goal scorer making an entire nation roar and writing his name in gold on the turf of football.
Nick-named as Totò, Salvatore Schillaci had the natural instincts of putting the ball in a position that would trigger emotion especially goal scoring.
