UK-based Ghanaian gospel star, Sonnie Badu, has made revelations about the neglect he faced from his colleagues within the gospel fraternity after a devastating injury in 2023 prior to his concert at the Grand Arena of Accra International Conference (AICC) last year. The award-winning singer expressed his deep disappointment that none of his fellow gospel musicians reached out or visited him during his recovery in a recent interview on Joy Prime.
“Not even a single one checked up on me. Personally, if I heard that somebody had gone through something or seen it, I would have been calling. I don’t care whether I’m cool with you or not. But not even one person did. “When I realized that not even a single gospel artist colleague or pastor would check up on me, that’s when I said even if I died, nobody cares; I have to rise up quickly,” he continued.
He was, however, grateful to the likes of Nigerian Pastor Jerry Eze of NSPPD online prayers, Prophet Agyemang Prempeh of Ultimate Charismatic Centre, Apostle Amoako Atta of the Lord's Parliament Chapel International, and Pastor Kingsley who contacted him on social media. Despite sharing his painful experience, Sonnie Badu has faced criticism, with many social media users questioning his motives. Some have alleged that the gospel singer is fabricating controversy to promote his program with similar allegations being rife last year when Sonnie Badu pulled off a successful show at his Rhytms of Africa concert after sharing pictures of him in crutches on his social media pages, announcing that he had undergone a major surgery following a domestic accident few weeks earlier. Interestingly, some netizens claimed that the said domestic accident was just a means for Sonnie Badu to hype his concert.
