Is excellence essential in our walk with God, or is it just a worldly pursuit? Does striving for excellence in our faith diminish the grace of God, or does it honor Him? Well, journey with me as we explore the importance of excellence in our walk with God.
Excellence wears many hats – a dynamic, shape-shifting concept that defies simplistic definitions, embracing a rich tapestry of meanings and expressions. Unfortunately, the way we define excellence today has limited many people from becoming exceptional.
Excellence is the highest and superior quality – distinctively exceptional. It also means the quality that always stands out. This is because there is a process to achieving excellence; it’s not a sudden occurrence. For something to be outstanding, it must first stand out. Excellence, therefore, separates itself from normal standards.
Excellence is a quality that continually improves. It’s not an activity we pursue and achieve, but a constant desire to become a better version of ourselves. This mindset helps us reach beyond the mark, delivering superior quality consistently.
Proverbs 22:29 NKJV
Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.
4 Tips Embedded in Scripture
In this material world, institutions, corporations, and firms seek excellent people to reward with huge sums of money. Nations need excellent leaders; churches need excellent pastors; football teams seek excellent players and coaches. Being excellent pays, so strive for excellence in whatever you do. The value of a person isn’t in how long they’ve served or been in a place, surprisingly, not even in spirituality, but in excellence. We must hunger and thirst for a quality of life that stands out.
Christianity becomes adorable when believers excel, it even ends up attracting others to Christ. Understand that excellence is the most desirable quality in every field – music, football, schooling, painting, politics, construction, etc.
As believers, we must learn to stand out in every area of life. Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:13, “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.” King David also said, “As the deer pant for water, so my soul pants for God.” They persisted, regardless of achievements.
To achieve excellence, don’t be impressed with yourself; keep adding value and improving yourself day after day. Excellence has the ability of attracting favour and placing you at a place mediocrity wouldn't. Prioritize excellence, in your calling, at your work and in your day-to-day activity as a child of Destiny.
Excellence is a must, pursue it!
