Bernardo Silva lashes out at Arsenal in an ugly rant, accusing Michael Oliver. In the second half, Arsenal used delaying tactics to try to run down the clock, which brought a stinging response from Bernardo Silva, who accused the Gunners of being 'anti-football' in the way they set-up.
Bernardo Silva chastised Arsenal for their hostile attitude and time-wasting tactics in their epic 2-2 draw against Manchester City. After City had laid siege to 10-man Arsenal's goal in a strong second-half performance at the Etihad Stadium, John Stones scored an equaliser in the 98th minute. Mikel Arteta's side utilized delaying tactics in the second half to try to run down the time, prompting a scathing response from Silva, who accused the Gunners of being 'anti-football' in their set-up.
Silva stated, "There was only one team that came to play football." Unfortunately, the other player arrived to play to the limits of what the referee allowed. But in the end, we secured a draw, which was the best we could manage given the circumstances of the final moments of the match. We're not delighted because we wanted three points, but I'm pleased with how we came to play and approached the game. I'm delighted we always go into each game with the intention of winning."
City midfielder Silva claimed Arsenal's dirty tricks attitude began from the outset and accused referee Michael Oliver of assisting their tactics and allowing them to squander time. He continued, "It all began in the first second. The initial action revealed what was going to happen. We had a player hurt after being sent to the ground twice in ten minutes. "We conceded a goal after the referee called our captain and then refused to let him reclaim his position. The second goal is their normal block on our goalkeeper, which was permitted by the referee.
"Then the referee allowed a series of time-wasting events." The fact that we have so many meetings with the FA at the start of each season disturbs me the most. They promise to regulate and stop such situations, but in the end, it is pointless. They talk a lot, but nothing occurs.
Silva took another jab at Arsenal, suggesting that their championship rivals, Liverpool, at least try to play the game correctly. "What is the difference?" "I don't know," Silva replied. "Maybe Liverpool has already won the Premier League, whereas Arsenal hasn't. Liverpool have won the Champions League, whilst Arsenal have not. "Liverpool has always faced us face to face in order to win games, so the games against Arsenal haven't been as intense as those we've had and continue to have with Liverpool. So, sure, perhaps a different rivalry."
