### Professor Isaac Boadi Criticizes Mahama's Economic Record on "The Seat Show"

On September 30, 2024, Professor Isaac Boadi, the Dean of Accounting and Finance at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), expressed strong opinions about former President John Dramani Mahama's suitability to lead Ghana again. His remarks were made during an appearance on Accra-based Net2 TV’s program, "The Seat Show." Professor Boadi argued that Mahama’s track record in economic management renders him unfit for another term in office.

During the discussion, Professor Boadi pointed out that Ghana has faced a myriad of challenges recently, particularly due to the impact of COVID-19 and the ongoing war in Europe. He praised the current administration, led by President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia, for their handling of the economy during these turbulent times. “The Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has performed better despite the significant global crises we are experiencing,” he asserted.

He contrasted the current economic situation with Mahama’s tenure, highlighting that Mahama left office with a mere 3.37% growth rate. “How can this individual convince us that he is the right choice for leadership again?” he questioned, emphasizing the need for a leader with a proven track record, particularly in challenging economic conditions.

Professor Boadi cited recent economic statistics to bolster his argument, noting that Ghana's economy grew by 4.7% in the first quarter of the year and by 6.9% in the second quarter. “These figures exceed analysts' expectations and demonstrate that the current leadership is more adept at managing the economy,” he stated. He also highlighted a significant drop in inflation, which fell to 7.6% under the Akufo-Addo administration by September 2019—the lowest rate since March 1992.

The professor expressed bewilderment at the notion of re-electing a leader whose administration had performed poorly in a relatively stable economic environment. “Under Mahama, there was no global pandemic or geopolitical turmoil, yet he left the country with a growth rate of just 3.4%. In stark contrast, the current administration has outperformed expectations despite facing a global economic downturn due to COVID-19 and the war instigated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,” he pointed out.

He urged Ghanaians to reconsider their choices carefully. “Why should we elect someone who has demonstrated poor performance in the past?” he questioned. Professor Boadi emphasized that the current managers of the economy deserve another chance to continue their work, given their accomplishments amid significant challenges.

In his closing remarks, Professor Boadi encouraged the public to support and vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, highlighting his economic background as a crucial asset for Ghana’s development. “We must not make the mistake of voting for the NDC and John Dramani Mahama again. There is nothing appealing about bringing Mahama back into power. His track record is so lacking that it would be irresponsible for Ghanaians to elect him once more. Mahama is unfit to lead Ghana again, given his poor performance during his previous tenure,” he concluded.

With these statements, Professor Boadi not only critiques Mahama's past but also makes a compelling case for the continuation of the current administration's policies, urging Ghanaians to evaluate their options with a focus on who can truly lead the country toward stability and growth.
