I was watching a video on a social media application and the content was a question a young woman was asked. The male asked “ what’s that one thing you’ve learned to live without ?” and the lady responded “ I am not gonna be loved by anyone”. I stayed there for a while and wondered what would make any individual get to this point where they’re so used to pain and rejection that they don’t even expect to receive love and affection .? What happens to people to make their hearts so cold and closed?
The simplest answer is intense and consistent pain. There are so many emotionally numbed individuals in our society. Many have suffered bullying, rejection, abuse etc that it appears that even a fire outbreak cannot cause a frightful scream from them.
Many of you readers are suffering from traumas and sorrows you’ve kept for so many years. Painful experiences that cut so deep into your heart that you don’t even want to talk about it. You’ve kept your hand to the fire so long you’ve forgotten how pain feels like. Your feelings are either too high or too low. You’re that person that has battled rejection so much that you don’t even mind if you’re not accepted ever by anyone.
Your heart has been broken so many times you don’t even know how love feels like. Accepting pain is not the same as being at peace my dear readers. Not knowing how to react to pain is not a strength, it’s a weakness. Are you numb or you’re at peace?
My dearest friends, you need to heal. Open the wound up and dress it. What has caused you so much pain? Let it go! Who caused it? Forgive them! Why you’re reminiscing on the pain, does it hurt? Good. The best way to treat a wound is not to hide it.
Whiles you’re at it, repeat these after me
I ( put your name here) am worthy of Loving and being loved. I refuse to let my painful experiences shape me. I open myself up to the love of God. I open myself up for the healing of God. Let my heart of stone be exchanged for a heart of flesh. Amen
