Prosper Narteh Ogum, the head coach of Asante Kotoko, has given new recruit Wisdom Fernando Bassey high marks for his performance in the team's 1-0 Ghana Premier League victory over Nsoatreman FC.

The Nigerian forward, who recently joined the Porcupine Warriors by trade, entered the game as a second-half substitution and had a significant impact on Wednesday's fantastic game.

His performance was vital as Kotoko advanced to second position in the standings with a close win.

After the game, Coach Ogum gave a Kotoko TV interview where he acknowledged his happiness with Bassey's debut performance.

"It seems beneficial to him. It was his first game, and he had a chance to score when he entered. Everyone in the club, including the technical staff and players in the locker room, was pleased for him. We're all glad he entered and had an influence. "All we can hope for is that he maintains this momentum when he gets the chance to play again," Ogum stated.

Wisdom Bassey is keen to get more playing time in the next games after making such a strong start. The Accra Lions present Kotoko with their next test as the Porcupine Warriors want to continue their perfect start to the season.

Sports Minister inspects Accra Sports Stadium ahead of Ghana-Sudan clash

Following recent renovations, Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of Youth and Sports, conducted an inspection of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ussif evaluated the pitch, locker rooms, and restrooms while Seth Panwum, the National Sports Authority (NSA) Board Chairman, accompanied him.

Following the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) approval for the Accra Sports Stadium to host Ghana's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan later this month, an inspection has taken place.

From September 27 to September 29, 2024, CAF officials evaluated the location over three days before proceeding to the Cape Coast Stadium.

This comes after Baba Yara Stadium's license was revoked because of its subpar playing field.

The Black Stars' next qualifier at the Martyrs of February Stadium will take place in Libya. Former Ghanaian coach Kwesi Appiah will be coaching Sudan. The Black Stars will play their first match in Accra on Friday, October 11.

Since Ghana hasn't won in the qualifications, coach Otto Addo is under a lot of pressure to get the squad over the finish line. They only secured a 1-1 draw against Niger in Berkane and lost 1-0 to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium.
