The Black Stars need to perform better, according to legendary midfielder Mohammed Polo, if they hope to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The four-time champions of the AFCON title are without a win in their opening games in Group F, losing to Angola and drawing against Niger in September.

In an interview, Polo argued that as the race for AFCON qualification progresses, teams should do better in the next games.

"I'll exhort the group to perform better. He said in an interview with Ghanasoccernet.com, "They need to improve, but there will be pressure because of how they started the qualifiers."

Meanwhile, the 1978 AFCON winner has maintained hope about the Black Stars' qualification chances despite a messy start.

Indeed! For Ghana, it is not yet over. We may face some difficulties, but we will undoubtedly succeed.

Sudan will visit the Black Stars in Ghana on October 11, 2024, following the Accra Sports Stadium's approval by the CAF. On Monday, October 14, the team will depart for Libya to play Sudan in the second leg at the Martyrs of February Stadium.

Otto Addo, the coach of Ghana, has not yet announced his team for the much-awaited match that takes place next week. The Black Stars, who had a dismal start to the qualifications last month, will be looking to improve their prospects of qualifying for AFCON 2025 when they play Sudan.

With the AFCON event set to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, Otto Addo's team hopes to finish in one of the top two slots in Group F.

Randy Abbey, a member of the Ghana Football Association's Executive Council, revealed that Kwesi Appiah had not attended meetings since the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations draw.

Before winning a place on the Executive Council in October of last year, Appiah was named head coach of the Sudan national team.

Up until the Black Stars' matchup with Sudan in the AFCON 2025 qualifying round, the former Ghana international was handling both positions.

The seasoned football official disclosed on Metro TV that Kwesi Appiah hasn't attended a Ghana FA meeting since the AFCON draw.

Since the draw, my friend Kwesi Appiah has not gone to any ExCo merging events. He's probably trying to justify himself because he knows the game's problems will come up. His circumstances are messy, to put it mildly, said Randy Abbey.

The West African superpower, who have one loss and one draw, are not among the top two teams in Group F and will be hoping to bounce back against Sudan.

Under the former Black Stars coach, the Falcons of Jediane have been outstanding, winning five of their previous seven games. They are determined to upset Ghana in the two-leg match.

Otto Addo's team hopes to finish in the top two in Group F to earn a seat in the AFCON competition, which takes place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
