AMERADO DISCUSSES "DATE RUSH" RELEASE

Ghanaian rapper and songwriter Amerado has recently explained his decision to release his latest single, "Date Rush," just days after King Paluta’s hit "Makoma" debuted. This timing has sparked discussions among social media users, with some arguing that Amerado should have allowed more time for "Makoma" to dominate the music scene before unveiling his own track, fearing that it might overshadow his release.

In an engaging interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie, Amerado addressed these concerns head-on. He stated, “My team and I have our own plans. Sometimes people act as if they think about you more than you do yourself, which is not ideal.” He elaborated on the situation, noting that he had initially intended to release a collaborative song with King Paluta on the same day that "Makoma" was set to drop. When Paluta informed him of his plans, Amerado agreed to let his colleague go first, deciding to release "Date Rush" a week later.

The hitmaker behind "Kwaku Ananse" emphasized that he could not alter his release schedule simply based on the timing of other artists’ songs. “I’m not a fortune teller; I couldn’t predict how well ‘Makoma’ would do. Just because it became popular doesn’t mean it should derail my plans. Out of all my significant releases, including 'Abronoma,' the song 'Date Rush' has actually generated the most engagement on TikTok, which is encouraging.”

Amerado further pointed out that the frequent play of King Paluta’s track does not mean that his music cannot also find its place in the spotlight. “We can enjoy multiple songs; one artist’s success doesn’t negate another’s potential. The music industry is vast, and there’s room for everyone. Not every track will be a massive hit. Even legendary artists like Daddy Lumba and Amakye Dede have songs that vary in popularity; that’s just how the industry works.”

His remarks reflect a broader understanding of the music scene, where competition exists but should not overshadow individual artistry. Amerado’s perspective highlights the importance of sticking to one’s plans and believing in one’s work, regardless of external pressures or comparisons. As both artists continue to carve their paths in the Ghanaian music industry, it’s clear that they each bring unique contributions to the cultural landscape, and fans can enjoy a variety of sounds without having to choose sides.
