Tain Constituency Women Organizer in the Bono Region, Amponsah Gyan Gloria, has commended former President John Dramani Mahama for prioritizing women's empowerment in his vision to reset and transform Ghana.
The manifesto aims to empower women and promote gender inclusivity in governance, reflecting John Mahama’s long standing commitment to increasing women's participation in leadership roles.
John Mahama also said he is committed to increasing women’s representation in Parliament, district assemblies, and other leadership roles in Ghana.
John Mahama said ensuring gender equality in leadership is not just a moral obligation but a crucial step in harnessing the full potential of Ghana's human resources.
As we launch a vision that places Ghana's women at the centre of national development and governance.
John Mahama thanked the Women’s Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for launching the Call to Action a bold step towards a future where women lead at the highest levels of politics, are economically empowered, and have access to the education and health care they need to thrive. Women play a critical role in our society, and the NDC’s “Resetting Ghana” Manifesto, launched on 24 August 2024, recognises this.
We have made clear, in both policy and practice, that our Ghanaian women are not just beneficiaries of development they are its architects. For us, the NDC, our mission is simple: Ghanaian women matter. Ghanaian women are partners in development. Our Party has put forward proposals to ensure that women sit at the table of national decision-making, side by side with men.
This is not an empty promise; John Mahama has already shown his commitment by nominating a female running mate that is a symbol of inclusive and gender-balanced government.
John Mahama is deeply honoured to have a woman of immense integrity as his running mate and, God willing, the next Vice President of Ghana. Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang will, God willing, be Ghana’s first female Vice President in January 2025.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) strongly believes that a truly inclusive and gender balanced government is long overdue in our democracy.
Responding to John Mahama's launch of the Women's Manifesto, Gloria expressed admiration for his commitment to transforming the lives of Ghanaian women.
"John Mahama's vision and policies demonstrates his dedication and integrity as a leader to uplifting women", Gloria stated on Fabea FM's 'Me Man Ho Dadwen' show with Apiah-Kubi.
"Women have a significant role in nation-building, and his policies will have profound and positive impact on women and the nation", she added.
Gloria highlighted the Women's Bank as a key initiative, providing relief to women entrepreneurs and addressing difficulties in starting or expanding businesses. She emphasized that the bank will offer accessible loans, creating employment opportunities, increasing family income, and improving living standards while reducing poverty.
Other notable policies Gloria advocated on include Property Rights Bill for women, Domestic Workers Protection Bill, Women Representatives in Leadership, Market and Enhancement Program, 4-month maternity leave and Free yearly cervical cancer screening.
Gloria urged Ghanaian women to rally behind John Mahama, ensuring his vision for women empowerment becomes a reality by voting massively for Mahama, enabling him to implement his visionary policies.
