The presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John  Mahama, says his past electoral defeats have allowed him to reflect deeply on how to effectively transform the country if given the chance to lead again.

Kneeling before some men of God, John Mahama, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was prayed for in his quest to be president again.

The engagement with the pastors and church leaders was to offer the former president an encounter with God ahead of the December 7, presidential election.

The gathering brought together some known men of God who are known for predicting elections in the country.

According to John Mahama, a second term as President would enable him to manage the nation’s resources judiciously, with the aim of improving the socio-economic conditions of Ghanaians.

John Mahama noted that Ghana needs a compassionate leader who genuinely prioritises the welfare of the country and its citizens.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader made these remarks during his meeting with the clergy in Accra on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 as part of his campaign as part of Election 2024.

John Mahama added that he is committed to serving Ghana and has availed himself for God’s guidance in his leadership journey.

The meeting with the clergy was an opportunity for John Mahama to seek their prayers and counsel as he prepares for the upcoming December 7 elections.

In an exclusive interview with Fabea FM's Apiah-Kubi on 'Me Man Ho Dadwen' show, the Public Relations Officer for Ambassadors for Christ Council in Techiman, in the Bono East Region, Apostle Erezola John, has shared thoughts on former President John Mahama's recent meeting with the clergy.

The man of God on behalf of the Council praised John Mahama's willingness to listen and address concerns with the Clergy.

"The meeting was enlightening, John Mahama showed sincerity and a commitment to peace and stability in Ghana, and his message will engage in much understanding of his policies", Apostle John said.

John Mahama reportedly discussed his vision for economic growth, good governance, and moral values during the meeting.

He acknowledged that John Mahama's efforts to build relationships with the clergy are crucial, and its  influence has a significant portion of positive impact on his campaign.

When asked about the meeting's impact on the 2024 elections, the pastor noted, "We pray for peaceful elections and wise leadership. We urge all Ghanaians to prioritize unity, tolerance, and understanding."

He added that as John Mahama's meeting with the clergy has sparked interest in the religious community's role in Ghana's politics, the former president's commitment to introducing an annual National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, supporting churches' revenue-generating ventures, and ensuring church involvement in school management was well-received.

The pastor concluded, "We appreciate John Mahama's willingness to listen and look forward to continued engagement."
