The story of Habila and Kaabila.

The story of Habila and Kaabila stands out as one of the earliest and deepest narratives in Islamic tradition. It shows human emotions and their consequences, such as envy. Habila-Abel and Kaabila-Cain were sons of Adam and Hawwa or Eve, the first siblings among humans.

The two brothers get their calling to make an offering to God. Habila was a shepherd, and he sacrificed the best of his sheep before God, while Kaabila was a farmer who presented crops that were inferior. What Habila did pleased God in acceptance, but it kindled a fire of jealousy in Kaabila. Unable to bear the injustice of this verdict, the emotions of Kaabila spiraled into times of anger and resentment.

One day, when their innocent brother was unsuspecting, Kaabila approached him in anger. His brother tried to make his brother see the light of patience and retrospect, yet his jealousy led him to the tragic turn of killing his brother - an act considered the first murder on earth. This did not only break the bond between the two brothers but also allowed sin to enter this world.

After the crime, Kaabila spent his time in despairs and repentance; he was wandering haphazardly with the burden of this sin. Wanting to show the gravity of his sin to Kaabila, God sent a raven to show him how to hide Habila's body. His act was the strong symbol of repentance and the call for an account.

The story of Habila and Kaabila represents an eternal moral, speaking to the evils of jealousy, anger, and pride. It underlines compassion and humility while noting the destruction that may be unleashed by uncontrolled passions within relationships. The narrative has lived on to remind humankind of the need for comprehension and forgiveness in the face of hardship.
