Nicolas Jackson, a striker for Chelsea, will not be punished retroactively for what appeared to be a "slap" on Nottingham Forest defender Morato during the team's heated match this past weekend.
Chelsea's recent five-game winning streak across all competitions came to an end in a 1-1 draw, but chaos broke out near the end as both sets of players got into an on-field brawl. After opposing full-back Neco Williams shoved Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, Marc Cucurella reacted by getting booked, which meant he would miss the Blues' next match.
Jackson leapt up from the bench to get involved even though he had already been replaced at that point in the game. He was seen on camera seemingly pointing a hand at Morato's face. The action was not deemed violent conduct at the time it was reviewed by VAR.
FA charges have arrived, but they only apply to clubs, not to individuals. It is alleged that Chelsea and Forest neglected to make sure their players didn't act inappropriately or provocatively.
The deadline for each party to reply to the FA, whether to accept the charge or file an appeal, is this Thursday. If found guilty, a fine would be the likely punishment.
Jackson has managed to hang onto his starting spot this season despite Chelsea's eventual failure to sign a striker during the summer transfer window, despite connections to Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney in particular.
Six months after failing his medical to join Bournemouth and costing £32 million, the Senegalese international has already made seven Premier League appearances and contributed four goals and three assists.
Jackson has started each of the previous seven games, but he has only played the full ninety minutes without being replaced once, in the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace. He has typically been replaced by Christopher Nkunku, though Marc Guiu and Joao Felix have also done so.
