A statement elucidating Jurgen Klopp's contentious choice to assume a new position at Red Bull as Head of Global Soccer has been released.
The German announced at the beginning of the summer that he planned to take a break after "running out of energy," capping a trophy-filled nine-year career with Premier League powerhouse Liverpool.
However, Klopp was unexpectedly named as Red Bull's new Head of Global Soccer, managing strategy for RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Bragantino, Red Bull Brasil, and Red Bull Salzburg after just four months away from the game.
As might be expected, the news has not gone over too well; in particular, Klopp's decision to join Red Bull has infuriated Borussia Dortmund supporters.
Klopp gave an explanation of his decision to accept the position in an Instagram post.
I will be leading Red Bull Global Soccer starting on January 1, 2025, as some of you may have already heard or not', he stated.

"I want to re-learn because it's difficult to find time to learn when your job requires you to play every three days. I also have time and opportunity right now. In addition, I want to observe and determine what can help football progress a little bit.
I'm really excited about it, but I'm going back on vacation right now. I'll see you in January.
