After pulling out of the 2024 Capital City Africa Cup, Ghanaian team Asante Kotoko has made the decision to concentrate on contending for the Ghana Premier League championship.

The Porcupine Warriors team declared on Thursday that it will no longer participate in the Cup, which is coming up in Washington, D.C., in the United States.

In a statement, the club's interim management committee indicated that the decision to withdraw was due to the difficulties in getting player visas.

We regretfully announce that we will not be participating in the Capital City Africa Cup, which is set for Saturday, October 12, 2024, in Washington, D.C.

Additionally, we want to let our supporters know that the first contingent—which consists of seven players and technical staff—will return to Ghana on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

Part of Asante Kotoko's statement stated, "The team will immediately redirect its focus upon their return to establishing and building on our great start to the Ghana Premier League season, assuring continuing success in the domestic competition."

According to the statement, Asante Kotoko SC is still totally dedicated to maintaining the club's honor, dignity, and principles.

The 2024–25 Ghana Premier League season has started off quite well for the Kumasi-based team.

The club leads the league rankings with 11 points and has an undefeated record after five games.

Ghana's coach, Otto Addo, admits that the 2025 AFCON qualifiers will be difficult till the final match.

It will not be simple for Ghana's senior national side to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, according to head coach Otto Addo.

After his team controlled the match against Sudan but did not win all three points, the coach was left feeling hurt and disillusioned on Thursday night.

At the Accra Sports Stadium, the Group F match concluded in a goalless draw.

Although it will be difficult till the very end, Ghana coach Otto Addo stated in his post-match interview that his team may still earn a spot in the 2025 AFCON.

"There is nothing I can guarantee; perhaps God will take me tomorrow. We'll give it our all, and I have no doubt that we'll triumph in the end. The good news is that we still have control over it. We must prevail in the upcoming match. And there is still a long way to go before we are qualified. Coach Otto Addo stated, "I think the final game will be difficult, but we will succeed."

Ghana needs a victory to increase its prospects of making it to the next AFCON, as they are currently in third place in Group F with just two points from three games.
