Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, head coach of Asante Kotoko, was pleased with Sudanese striker AbdoelKarem Abdoel Rahman Yoouef Yagoub's debut performance during Kotoko's 1-0 Ghana Premier League victory over Accra Lions.

At the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, Yagoub made his debut for the Porcupine Warriors and was instrumental in Kotoko's triumph.

Kotoko climbed to the top of the league standings with the victory, their second straight victory. Before the 2024–2025 season, Kotoko signed two Sudanese players, including Yagoub.

Dr. Ogum commented, "I must admit I was impressed because we gave him an assignment," about Yagoub's performance. To make their play more predictable, we gave him the duty of cutting off one of the center backs as they played out from the back. He did that rather well if you looked closely at him.

"He is very good at pressing and ensuring the opponent feels the pressure," Ogum added, highlighting the striker's capacity to apply pressure and push opponents.

Kotoko secured all three points and kept up their winning trend when Albert Amoah scored the game-winning goal in the 48th minute.

Kwesi Appiah: I turned down Sudan's first offer to assemble a team for them.

James Kwesi Appiah, a Ghanaian trainer, has disclosed that when the Sudanese football officials wanted to recruit him for their national team, he turned down their first offer to develop a team for them.

Before accepting the position as head coach of the Falcons of Jediane, the former Black Stars coach claimed he asked for a different goal than merely assembling a club.

Appiah mentioned the suspension of their domestic league and the current civil upheaval in Sudan as reasons why he was unable to sign a contract requiring him to establish a team.

They asked me to come and help them assemble a team. He told Asempa FM, "I informed them that I am not ready to do it if it is only about developing a team."

"I informed them if their goal was to qualify for the World Cup, the Africa Cup of Nations, or even the AFCON. I'll agree to that goal rather than merely assembling a team.

"They have talented players, so we can set a goal and work toward reaching it," I told them, acknowledging that I couldn't assemble a team. They have talented athletes. Simply said, it's about psyching them.

In the third round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Sudan will play Ghana on Thursday night at the Accra Sports Stadium.

With three points, the Falcons of Jediane are two points clear of Ghana, who are in third place in Group F.
