The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been advised by media personality Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah to rethink the songs they use in their campaigns because they may turn off supporters, many of whom are struggling financially.
He made particular attention to King Paluta' s song " Makoma, " saying that some of its lyrics can be interpreted as making fun of the hardships faced by common Ghanaians.

In a segment that aired on his radio show and was subsequently posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Afrifa Mensah who has previously voiced sympathy for the NPP advised the party to select songs that have a more favourable resonance with the voters.
He underlined the need of choosing songs that evoke strong feelings in voters instead of ones that could be interpreted as mocking them. Afrifa Mensah recalled comparable errors committed by the NPP in 2008, which resulted in their downfall due to voter ire over the selection of specific songs.
Afrifa Mensah said that the song Mmobrohunufo Agya helped former President John Agyekum Kufuor win the 2000 election, and that President Akufo- Addo used the song Asem Papabi a mati in 2016 as part of a more deliberate strategy that helped him win.

Afrifa Mensah voiced her displeasure with the selections made for the present campaign soundtrack, pointing out that " Owo sisi fiaa nobi" by King Paluta is frequently played. She claimed that this choice lacks political significance.
" That music that plays has become ingrained in the camping experience. You did the same thing in 2008, which infuriated the voters and led to our election defeat. " Owo sisi fiaa nobi" is not a political statement. Let' s get real here: I' m going to give him a call and inform him that the music shouldn' t be played on campaign platforms. This needs to end. So what is Owo sisi fiaa nobi?
