“What is going on, Betty. It’s been about two weeks now since we last had sex. What is wrong with you?”
“Nothing.” She replied flatly.
“Nothing? Then why have you not been allowing me touch you?”
“Nothing.”
“What do you mean by nothing? I am a man and I have needs. If you keep behaving like this, how do you want me to cope?” I asked.
“Is that all that matters to you?” She sneered.
“Not really, but it is my right to…”
“Right to do what? Right to do what, Collins? I am asking you. Look at your friends and mates; they are doing well. They drive in big cars and take good care of their families. You are here asking sex. Can’t you use that energy to make something out of your life?”
“Betty!!” I shouted in shock.
“Abeg don’t Betty me. I am tired of this kind of life. You have to do something, Collins, and do it very fast.”
“You cannot say that, Betty. You know how much I love my family, and how much I have struggled to take good care of us. If not for that unfortunate incident, we would have been fine. Despite that I have still been trying my best. I have even managed to get a job…”
“Which job?” She cut in. “Which Job, Collins. So, according to you that embarrassing job of being someone’s cook is a job? Can you hear yourself? No, wait. Can you really hear yourself?”
“Betty, I am trying my best.” I defended myself.
