England returned to winning ways with a confident 3-1 victory over Finland in the Nations League, solidifying their push to return to Group A. Playing in Helsinki, the Three Lions secured a crucial three points in Group B2, with standout performances from Chelsea stars Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke, alongside their teammate Levi Colwill, who was included in the matchday squad.

Chelsea Trio Named in Squad

Cole Palmer, who started the match, was key to England’s attacking flow, while Madueke entered later and contributed in the final stages of the game. Levi Colwill, meanwhile, was named on the bench and remained an unused substitute. Their involvement signals a growing influence of Chelsea's young talents in Gareth Southgate's plans as England looks to regain its place among the top teams in the Nations League.

Dominant First Half Performance

The Three Lions took control early on, with Jack Grealish opening the scoring after receiving a clever pass from Angel Gomes. The combination of fluid passing and attacking creativity from the England midfield set the tone for a dominant display.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, deployed in a more central role, doubled the lead with a trademark long-range strike, sending the Finnish defense scrambling. England continued to apply pressure, and Declan Rice added a third goal before halftime, putting the visitors in a commanding position.

Finland’s Late Response

Despite England's dominance, Finland managed to pull one back late in the second half. Arttu Hoskonen capitalized on a defensive lapse to score for the hosts, but England’s lead remained secure. Although Finland threatened briefly, the Three Lions held firm to secure the win.

Key Contributions from Palmer and Madueke

Palmer played a vital role in England's attack, linking up well with the midfield and creating chances from the right side. He was substituted for Madueke with 20 minutes left, and Madueke immediately made an impact, involving himself in several dangerous build-up plays as England controlled the tempo in the final stages.

Levi Colwill, though unused, will take encouragement from his inclusion, as his defensive abilities continue to catch the eye of the England coaching staff.

England’s Group B2 Standing

The result leaves England level on points with Greece at the top of Group B2, though the Three Lions have played one more match than their rivals. With a return to Group A within reach, England’s young talents, including Palmer, Madueke, and Colwill, are proving to be crucial as they bid for promotion.

Southgate’s side will look to build on this momentum as they continue their Nations League campaign, with an eye on securing their spot at the top of the group and reclaiming their place among Europe’s elite.
