Aboubakar Ouattara, the head coach of Hearts of Oak, says the team's first away victory of the season wasn't easy and they plan to put in more effort moving forward.

Over the weekend in Ghana Premier League match-week 6, the "Phobians" put on an incredible display to overcome the Yellow-Blues 1-2 at Nana Abrefa Nketiah VII Park.

With all of the goals coming in the second half, Emmanuel Amankwah took the lead in the 50th minute, but Samuel Prempeh's incredible bicycle kick goal canceled it out. Hamza Issah then scored a few seconds later to put the lead back.

With eight points—two victories, two losses, and two draws—the "Phobians" have now risen to eighth place on the log.

The Ivorian coach responded to the victory by saying that it was a difficult game even though they won and that they aren't celebrating too much because they will now focus on the upcoming games.

"The match today is tough. I am aware that it can be challenging for us. There is a really positive side to young apostles. We earned the three points by attempting to keep them. It's probably our second victory. We must not celebrate too much. We'll keep up the good effort and see what this season brings. "We will try our best, even though it's not easy," Coach Aboubakar Ouattara stated.

The next round of games will see Hearts of Oak travel to Dreams FC.

The first Ghanaian coach to defeat the Black Stars is Kwesi Appiah.

As the first Ghanaian coach to lead a different national side to victory over the Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah has created history.

Tuesday's thrilling 2-0 victory for his Sudanese team demonstrated Appiah's tactical skill and moved them one step closer to earning a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The late Osam Duodu, who led the Gambia to victory against the Black Starlets in the 2005 African U-17 Championship final when David Duncan was leading the Black Starlets, was the last coach to defeat Ghana. Appiah's accomplishment, meanwhile, is the first time a Ghanaian coach has triumphed over the Black Stars.

Previously, Appiah was the first Ghanaian coach to lead the Black Stars to the 2014 World Cup, a feat he accomplished twice. But he lost his job in 2019.

Despite Sudan's political difficulties, Appiah has achieved amazing accomplishments since assuming power there. Sudan was a sinking ship when he took over, but they are now only one victory away from securing their spot in AFCON for the first time since 2021. They are also now ahead of Senegal in their 2026 World Cup qualifying.
