With the 2024 general elections around the corner, the National Democratic Congress has intensified its campaign in the Ho Central Constituency, mobilizing the rank and file to ensure an overwhelming victory. The party inaugurated its activities in the constituency with a well-attended rally last weekend.

With key party stalwarts, including the parliamentary candidate for the constituency, John Kwame Agyekum, leading the ceremony, the NDC voiced their vision for the development and progress of the region. Agyekum intends to be able to offer great representation in Parliament; hence, he promised to champion issues that would have a direct impact on the citizenry should he go through, such as education, healthcare, and job creation.

According to Agyekum, the campaign is people-centered, based on the aspirations of the people of Ho Central, listening to them when they tell of their problems, and are committed to changing their lives. "It is time for new leadership that listens and acts.".

There were speeches from regional party leaders and grassroots activists who testified about the impact of the policies set by NDC on their lives. Most complained about the current government, saying that it had failed to address most of the critical social and infrastructural needs. The message of NDC struck a strong chord with the audience when its speakers outlined plans for the improvement of local schools, health facilities, and fostering of youth entrepreneurship.

Other means the NDC uses to reach voters directly, aside from the rally, include door-to-door campaigns, community meetings, and social media outreach. Volunteers are canvassing neighborhoods, distributing campaign materials, and addressing issues of concern from constituents. The party has also provided for health outreach programs, offering free medical and health screening services to residents, further proving its commitment to community welfare.

This increased effort in Ho Central is part of the strategical move from the NDC to win back the seat, one of those hot battles that they have always monitored since the past elections. With the campaign activities still escalating, political analysts predict a competitive race, with voter turnout likely to play a crucial role in determining the outcome.

It would also be only a few weeks to the elections, but the NDC is still hard at work, consolidating support and building machinery in the constituency for what is expected to be translated into votes on election day.
