John Dramani Mahama Launches Campaign in Upper West Region, Promises Inclusive Development
Wa, Upper West Region – Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), launched his campaign in the Upper West Region today, promising an inclusive and people-centered development agenda aimed at revitalizing the region’s economy and improving the livelihoods of its people.
Addressing a large and enthusiastic crowd in Wa, Mahama highlighted his vision for a prosperous Ghana that caters to all, including those in remote and less-developed regions like the Upper West. He emphasized the need for stronger infrastructural development, job creation, and the improvement of social services such as healthcare and education in the area.
“We are committed to ensuring that the Upper West Region receives its fair share of development. Our focus is on building roads, providing quality education, improving healthcare, and creating jobs for the youth,” Mahama said during his speech. He noted that his previous administration had initiated several projects in the region and promised to continue those efforts if elected in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
The NDC flagbearer also took the opportunity to criticize the current government for what he described as neglect and poor economic management, which, according to him, has worsened the plight of ordinary Ghanaians. Mahama assured the people that his administration would bring back policies that focus on poverty reduction, agricultural development, and improved living standards.
Mahama’s campaign in the Upper West Region is part of a nationwide tour aimed at rallying support ahead of the elections. The region, which has traditionally been a stronghold for the NDC, showed overwhelming support for the former president, with party loyalists and regional leaders endorsing his candidacy.
In addition to infrastructure and job creation, Mahama pledged to address the challenges faced by farmers in the region, promising subsidies for fertilizers and better access to markets. “Agriculture remains the backbone of this region, and we will ensure that farmers are supported to increase productivity,” he added.
The campaign launch saw a massive turnout of NDC supporters, local chiefs, and opinion leaders, who expressed confidence in Mahama’s ability to deliver on his promises. His message of hope and development resonated with many in the region, who are keen to see tangible improvements in their standard of living.
As the campaign heats up ahead of the 2024 elections, Mahama continues to position himself as the leader who can restore Ghana’s economy, create jobs, and foster inclusive development across all regions of the country.
