Akufo-Addo underlined that Ghana has carved for itself a well-established reputation for stability and democratic governance, unrivaled anywhere in West Africa. He acknowledged the impacts of global economic turmoil, climate change, and social unrest; however, he insisted that the nation needs to stand resolute for peace. "Our ability to maintain peace is not just a matter of national pride; it is essential for our progress as a nation," he said.
The President highlighted a number of initiatives his administration has pursued to make the atmosphere peaceful in Ghana-from community dialogue sessions to workshops aimed at conflict resolution. In all these, he reiterated, inclusivity and participation of all citizens, especially the youth, were imperative in peacemaking processes. "A peaceful nation is a prosperous nation, and we must make certain that every Ghanaian feels ownership of our peace processes," he added.
Akufo-Addo also spoke to what security agencies had to do to play their role in maintaining peace, urging continued collaboration between police and military and local communities. He then assured all that the government was committed to ensuring that security personnel were provided with the resources and training they needed to handle conflicts efficiently for public safety.
These were various stakeholders attending the conference that include traditional leaders, religious figures, and civil society organizations. The Conference gave an opportunity to the stakeholders to discuss strategies for strengthening peacebuilding mechanisms throughout the country. Certain participants assured of their commitment to the purpose of working together with one another in mitigating conflicts, hence fostering understanding among the various communities.
In conclusion, President Akufo-Addo called on all citizens to make peace a daily concern, as this would ensure that the country continued to enjoy the harmony it had been experiencing. "Let us all be ambassadors of peace," he concluded, reinforcing the notion that it is everyone's duty in securing a good future for Ghana.
