The National Democratic Congress has targeted traditional seats of the New Patriotic Party in the Western Region, in a strategic move to put up a good show in the forthcoming elections. This campaign strategy is aimed at rattling the New Patriotic Party's long-standing dominance in these constituencies and which have traditionally been the ruling party's strongholds in the region.

It was a rally that took place in Takoradi, during which the leadership of the NDC, comprising party executives and parliamentary candidates, reiterated their determination to win important constituencies retained over the years by the NPP. The Western Region, rich in natural resources and pulsating with vibrant communities, was particularly crucial in past elections and thus provides a premium target which the NDC desires to put into its basket.

The campaign message of the NDC has revolved around jobs, infrastructure development, and healthcare for residents. The party executives have tried to project economic revival for the area by harnessing the resources available within the region for the good of the people. "We are here to listen to your needs and fight for your rights," the party's regional chairman declared, emphasizing the engagement of the NDC with grassroots concerns.

The NDC also focuses on the youth and women, the two most potentially decisive demographics in this election. The party promises more opportunities for the youth and equal rights for women; it hopes that will mobilize the two critical blocs of voters.

Against that background, the NPP has consolidated its support base in that region with claims of development achievements and growth in the economy. According to party officials, there have been improvements in infrastructure and job opportunities, and constituents are urged to sustain their support for continuity.

As the election draws close, both parties are on overdrive in their campaigns, fusing traditional rallies with modern digital outreach to connect with voters. For its part, the Western Region remains arguably the biggest battleground, with an NDC keen to finally break the stranglehold of the NPP and reshape the political landscape ahead of the polls.

The stakes are higher than ever, and the coming months will show if this is the time for the NDC to reap from its strategies or if the NPP can hold tight in this very important region.
