Despite losing in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications, Kwame Opare Addo, the communications director for Ghana Premier League club, maintains that Sudan is not superior to the Black Stars.
At the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Libya on Tuesday afternoon, Ghana, the four-time AFCON champions, lost 2-0 to the Falcon Jediane.
The outcome puts the Black Stars in danger of missing out on the CAF's premier event, which will take place in Morocco the following year. The last time the four-time African champions did not make it to the AFCON competition was in 2004.
In an interview, Opare Addo praised Sudan's victory over Ghana, citing Kwesi Appiah's technical skill in the second half.
"Sudan accomplished something superior to our actions that day. Their team is not necessarily superior to ours. Equal play characterized the first half, but in the second half, they understood that they needed to attack from the sides to gain penetration, and it was successful.
"In the first half, Kwesi Appiah made a mistake, but he recognized it and penalized Ghana in the second half." "Oh," he said.
Ghana must now defeat Angola and Niger, who have already qualified, and hope that Sudan loses to these same opponents to maintain their hopes of making it to the tournament in Morocco the following year.
