In a recent statement gone viral among political analysts, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has reaffirmed that the route of the party to recapturing power exists only through the ballot box. At a rally in Accra, Nketiah encouraged party members and supporters to start marshaling their forces and preparing for the upcoming elections, emphasizing that a united force is needed to recapture governance.

Nketiah made these comments in anticipation of the general elections of 2024, which the NDC hopes to win to wrest power from the incumbent NPP government. He urged the rank and file of the party to interact more closely with the electorate, reiterating that the NDC must offer a prudent and attractive alternative to the policies being pursued by the current administration. "The ballot box is our weapon; it is the only means through which we can demonstrate our collective will and make our voices heard," Nketiah said.

He also attacked the government of the NPP over issues like economic hardship, rising unemployment, and corruption troubling the country. According to Nketiah, the NDC has a robust plan aimed at addressing those challenges and would reflect in the party manifesto how it means to continue putting smiles on the faces of Ghanaians. "We are not just campaigning to win; we are campaigning to bring hope and restore dignity to the people of Ghana," he said.

Nketiah called for unity within the party following some internal divisions that have cropped up since the last elections. He admitted that there was a need to reconcile some factions and implored members to put the interest of the party above personal ambitions. "We must stand together as one NDC, focused on our goal of victory in 2024," he urged.

The NDC leadership is, therefore, on course to mobilize grass-roots support and instill new hope in its ranks as the country inches toward elections. Having put emphasis on the ballot box as a critical tool for political change, Nketiah remains optimistic about his party's fortunes in the looming elections.
