Election 2024: We'll resist LGBTQ+ at any cost – Bawumia. 
The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has once again reaffirmed his strong opposition to the introduction of LGBTQ+ practices into Ghanaian society, stating that it goes against the country's religious beliefs and cultural values.
Speaking to clergy, traditional leaders, and stakeholders in Anyinam, during his Eastern Regional tour, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that both the Bible and the Quran, as well as the core tenets of Ghanaian traditions, do not support LGBTQ+ activities.
 
He was addressing the audience after the Member of Parliament for Atewa East, Abena Osei Asare, commissioned a newly constructed constituency office.
Dr. Bawumia declared that under his leadership, the NPP would resolutely oppose any attempts to introduce LGBTQ+ ideologies into Ghana, regardless of external pressures or costs involved.

Bishop Salifu Amoako, father of the 16-year-old boy involved in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two young girls in East Legon on October 12, 2024, has called for calm, asking Ghanaians to stop speculating about the incident.
Addressing his congregation at Alive Chapel International on Sunday, October 20, the prominent religious leader expressed frustration with the ongoing discussions surrounding the accident, which he described as an unfortunate event rather than a deliberate act.

Bishop Amoako defended his son, clarifying that the boy had not committed an intentional crime.
"It was an accident," he said, adding "My son did not carry a gun to kill anybody. He involved himself in a terrible accident, and I am not the one who did it, nor his mother. It is my name, that is why people are talking."
Police deny beating Barker-Vormawor. 
The Ghana Police Service has dismissed reports circulating in the media that claim activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor was beaten by officers while in custody.
In a statement released on Sunday, October 20 the police described the allegations as "false and baseless," urging the public to disregard them as an attempt by Barker-Vormawor and his supporters to garner public sympathy.
The police clarified that Barker-Vormawor, who is being prosecuted by the Office of the Attorney General, was granted bail by the High Court on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
 
The bail was set at GH¢20,000 with two sureties, without justification. However, multiple efforts to execute the bail have been unsuccessful due to the accused's inability to secure the necessary sureties.
Parliamentary majority is won at the Polling Station, not manufactured – Bawumia. 
Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reminded the opposition NDC that parliamentary majority is achieved through wins at the polling station level within constituencies, not "manufactured" in Parliament.
Supreme Court Overturns Bagbin's Ruling Of 4 NPP Parliamentary Seat
This follows Thursday's dramatic events in Parliament, where the Speaker declared four seats held by MPs contesting the 2024 elections on different tickets as vacant.
This reduced the NPP's seat count and briefly granted the NDC a majority status. However, within 24 hours, the Supreme Court granted a stay of execution, nullifying the Speaker's ruling until the substantive case seeking an interpretation of the relevant constitutional article is heard.

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has announced plans to use its newfound majority to repeal the controversial e-levy and other taxes that it deems burdensome to Ghanaians.
This follows Speaker Alban Bagbin's declaration on Thursday, October 17, that four parliamentary seats were vacant. His ruling came after three sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) indicated their intention to run as independent candidates in the 2024 general elections.
Additionally, the Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, who initially entered Parliament in 2020 as an independent MP, announced his decision to contest the upcoming elections under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) banner.
Bagbin's ruling, if upheld, would shift the balance of power in Parliament, granting the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus a slim majority with 136 MPs, leaving the NPP with 135.
2024 BECE results released; entire results of 41 candidates canceled. 
The West African Examinations Council has released provisional results of candidates who sat for the 2024 BECE for both School and Private Candidates.
Following the completion of investigations into several cases of irregularity detected during the conduct of the examination and marking of scripts, WAEC has cancelled the Subject Results of 377 school candidates and three private candidates for the offence of bringing foreign materials into the examination hall or colluding with other candidates;

Again, the entire results of 41 school candidates and one private candidate have been cancelled.
The entire results of 33 school candidates and three private candidates have been withheld.
Meanwhile, some subject results of candidates from 149 schools have been withheld for reported irregularities.
The withheld results may be cancelled or released based on the outcome of investigations.
