At the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday, Asante Kotoko defeated FC Samartex, the reigning champions, 1-0 after a fierce battle to prolong their winning streak.

In the 31st minute, Albert Amoah scored the game-winning goal after putting in a beautiful outswinging cross from Patrick Asiedu.

With their third straight victory, Kotoko continued their impressive early-season play. With a 53 percent possession rate and 17 goal attempts against Samartex's five, they dominated the game. Samartex only caused their goalie any problems twice, but Kotoko also managed four attempts on goal. Even though the score was close, Kotoko maintained a clean sheet thanks to their solid defense and control.

With one game remaining, Kotoko is now only one point behind league leader Bibiani Goldstars in second place after this victory.

Their next test will be a fantastic league matchup in Accra versus Legon Cities, where they will try to maintain their winning streak. In the meantime, Samartex will try to recover in their next matchup with Chelsea.
