Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has launched a strategic campaign tour across Ghana's Volta Region, emphasizing infrastructure development and job creation. As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) seeks to secure a decisive victory in the 2024 general elections, Bawumia’s message is focused on delivering inclusive development, particularly in regions historically less aligned with his party. His tour, marked by a series of town hall meetings and engagements with key stakeholders, highlights the NPP’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and creating jobs across the country.
In his addresses to various communities, Bawumia underscored
his government's achievements in transforming Ghana’s infrastructure. He
highlighted road construction, energy projects, and the expansion of digital
services as critical components of the NPP’s vision for economic growth.
Notably, the Volta Region, known for its fertile lands and agricultural
potential, has been a focus of infrastructural projects aimed at boosting local
economies. Bawumia assured citizens that more roads, schools, and health
facilities would be built, ensuring that rural areas are not left out of the
country’s development agenda.
Employment creation was another key pillar of his tour. Dr.
Bawumia called on the youth, especially entrepreneurs and small business
owners, to take advantage of the various government-led initiatives, such as
the One District, One Factory (1D1F) program. This initiative seeks to
industrialize regions and provide local employment opportunities, a vital step
towards reducing unemployment. He also pointed to the government’s commitment
to vocational training, which equips the youth with practical skills for the
job market. These messages struck a chord with residents, many of whom raised
concerns about joblessness and the lack of access to basic services.
In addition to addressing infrastructural and employment
challenges, Bawumia engaged with local traditional leaders and civil society
groups. By working closely with these groups, the Vice President sought to
understand their concerns and ensure that the government’s development plans
align with the specific needs of their communities. Traditional leaders in Kpando
expressed their confidence in Bawumia’s leadership, praising his administration
for the tangible development seen in the region
Bawumia's focus on the Volta Region reflects his broader
strategy to secure a strong foothold in areas where the NPP has struggled in
previous elections. By positioning his party as one that prioritizes the needs
of all regions, he aims to break through political divides. His message is
clear: inclusive development, driven by infrastructure and job creation, is the
key to transforming Ghana's future and securing a prosperous future for all
citizens.
