Barcelona secured a convincing 5-1 win over Sevilla to extend their lead over fellow rivals Real Madrid in the title race on Sunday evening.

Pedri was one of the best players against Sevilla.

Speaking to the media after the match, the 21-year-old shared his thoughts on the team's success and the importance of the victory, especially with tough games ahead in the Champions League and La Liga.

"It was very important because of the upcoming games, but we knew the important match for now was this one. We had to secure three points and good momentum going into the Champions League game," Pedri said.

Pedri was pleased with the return of Gavi, who had been out for almost 11 months due to an ACL injury. "Very happy with the win, but especially with Gavi’s return," he said.

According to Barca Network, one of the most talked-about moments after the match was Pedri's decision to hand over the captain’s armband to Gavi.

Although the armband was supposed to go to Inaki Pena, the senior player on the field, Pedri explained his decision.

"Neither Frenkie nor anyone else was there. It was the perfect moment to give it to him; I think he deserves it because he’s worked incredibly hard to be here today."

Hansi Flick offers double positive Barcelona fitness update

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has delivered good news on the fitness of Frenkie de Jong and Eric Garcia.

La Blaugrana roared back into action following the October international break with a dominant 5-1 La Liga home win against Sevilla.

As the goals flew in Catalonia, Flick’s charges extended their lead at the top of the table, in a warning shot to their rivals.

The return of Gavi, following an 11-month injury lay off was a key boost for Flick, and there was more positivity from him at full time.

Despite ongoing doubts over when De Jong will be fit to return, Flick claimed there is no major issue, and the same for Garcia, who pulled out in the warm up for this game.

“Frenkie had some discomfort today, but he’s fine. Eric also has some pain, but it’s nothing serious”, he said at full time.

Garcia could be in consideration for the midweek UEFA Champions League clash with Bayern Munich but a late call will be needed for De Jong.
