Elrad Salifu Amoako, the 16-year-old son of Bishop Salifu Amoako, was involved in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two young girls. Eyewitness reports and visuals from the scene showed the teenager driving at high speed before crashing into another vehicle, which caught fire upon impact, resulting in the deaths of two female occupants. Since the accident, the case has drawn significant public attention, with new developments unfolding.

1. Controversial Sermon by Bishop Salifu Amoako

Bishop Salifu Amoako, General Overseer of Alive Chapel International Ministries and father of the teenage driver, expressed his frustration over the widespread public attention given to his son's accident. In his sermon on October 20, 2024, the bishop defended his son, emphasizing that the incident was purely accidental.

"It was an accident. My son did not carry a gun to kill someone. He was involved in a terrible accident. I wasn’t behind the wheel; neither was his mother," Bishop Amoako stated. He attributed the case's attention to his public status, remarking, "It is because of my name that the matter is everywhere. If this car had hit an Okada, would anyone mention it? It's all because of my name. Let’s see what the Lord will do."

He also warned his church members against engaging in unnecessary discussions about the accident, urging them to focus on prayer and to avoid being drawn into the media storm surrounding the event.

2. Police Secure Hospital Where Elrad Salifu Amoako is Admitted

Elrad Amoako is currently under heavy police protection while receiving treatment at a hospital following the accident. Police sources reveal that this precautionary measure is in place to ensure his immediate arrest once he is discharged from medical care.

In connection with the accident, Bishop Salifu Amoako, his wife Mouha Amoako, and a sales assistant named Linda Bempah were arrested and charged with permitting an unlicensed person to drive. On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, the High Court in Accra granted bail of GH¢50,000 each to all three individuals following their arrest a day earlier.

3. Family of Deceased Speaks Out

The family of Justine Agbenu, one of the young girls who died in the accident, has criticized the Amoako family's representatives for being insensitive during their outreach. Justine’s grandmother expressed her frustration during an interview, claiming that a junior pastor from Bishop Amoako's church made a dismissive comment when attempting to visit their family.

“He told my son-in-law, ‘It has already happened,’ when asked why they wanted to come,” she explained. The grandmother rejected the visit, citing the ongoing police investigation and expressing her wish that the Amoako family, including the 16-year-old driver, face the full extent of the law.

She emphasized that justice must be served to prevent future incidents. "The boy must face the law to the fullest, so it will serve as a deterrent. Otherwise, this trend will continue. Parents should be more responsible."

4. Candlelight Vigil for the Deceased

A candlelight vigil was held in memory of the two victims, Maame Dwomoh Boateng and Justine Agbenu, on October 18, 2024. Titled “All White Candlelight Vigil,” the event took place at the scene of the accident at 5:00 PM and saw the attendance of loved ones and community members who gathered to mourn and honour the lives of the two young girls.

5. Funeral and Burial for Maame Dwomo Boateng

On Saturday, October 19, 2024, the family of Maame Dwomoh Boateng held a private burial service, exactly one week after the tragic accident. In a somber gathering, family members, friends, and sympathizers assembled at the location where her body was being held to pay their final respects amid grief and mourning.

The accident has left both families devastated, with the larger Ghanaian community also mourning the loss of the two young girls. The case continues to evolve as investigations proceed, with growing attention on the legal proceedings surrounding Elrad Salifu Amoako’s involvement in the tragedy.
