Kwabena Kwabena Criticizes Selective Enforcement of Ghana's Laws, Calls for Reflection on Tragic Accident

Ghanaian highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena has expressed concerns about the unequal enforcement of laws in the country. In a recent interview on Adom TV, the "Adult Music" hitmaker highlighted that the legal system disproportionately affects the less privileged, while the wealthy often evade justice when they break the law.

Kwabena’s comments came in response to the tragic accident involving the son of Archbishop Salifu Amoako, which claimed the lives of two young girls. The young man had been seen driving recklessly in a video posted on social media before the fatal accident. This, according to Kwabena, raised important questions about accountability and the enforcement of traffic regulations in Ghana.

“We must make sure juveniles are not driving, and the video the young man posted driving was all over his social media. Meanwhile, we have the police department responsible for monitoring what happens on social media,” Kwabena pointed out during the interview.

He further argued that this incident exemplifies how the country’s laws are selectively enforced. “This indicates that the laws in the country only work on the weak and poor,” he added, emphasizing that the authorities failed to act on the social media evidence until after the tragic event had occurred.

Kwabena Kwabena also urged Ghanaians to reflect on the accident and draw lessons from it, rather than mock the family affected by the tragedy. He warned that such situations could happen to anyone, and called for greater awareness and measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.

“This is a situation from which we can all learn, rather than mock the family. It can happen to anyone, so we must work to prevent such tragedies in the future,” he stated.

His remarks have sparked conversations on the need for more equitable law enforcement in Ghana, particularly when it comes to the privileged. Many are calling for reforms in the justice system to ensure that wealth and social status do not shield individuals from the consequences of their actions.

Kwabena Kwabena’s advocacy for fairness and accountability resonates deeply with Ghanaians, as it sheds light on the critical need for systemic changes to uphold the rule of law for everyone, regardless of social class.
