Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP's vice president and presidential candidate, has once again made fun of the opposition NDC, asking why, with only six weeks till the polls, they are so eager to acquire a majority in Parliament through unconventional ways.
Four Members of Parliament filed to run on a different ticket in December, and the Speaker of Parliament announced last week that their seats were vacant. But in a decision, the Supreme Court halted the Speaker's decision and ordered Parliament to acknowledge the four MPs until the Court interpreted the controversial provision the Speaker was attempting to impose.
The NDC Minority Caucus has insisted in the media that they are the new Majority side in Parliament, even in spite of the Supreme Court's order. Vice President Bawumia again mocked the NDC after stating over the weekend that they are unable to create a majority in the Chamber of Parliament. He claimed that the NDC is desperate to win a majority for a little period of six weeks because they are aware that they will not be able to win the election in December.
"The NDC knows that they are losing this election. They know that we are winning, so they are panicking," Last night, Dr. Bawumia spoke to a sizable gathering in Ho.
"Just think about it: we have six weeks until the election, and their only concern is that they want to be a Majority for six weeks when they have been a minority for eight years. Why? What is the rush? It is because they know they have lost the election, and they want to taste the Majority position for six weeks," Dr. Bawumia said.
Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed his conviction that the NPP will secure a substantial legislative majority in December."because of the work we have done."
"For us, we know that we are going to stay focused. We are the Majority, and we will be the Majority party on December 7," he said.
"We will be the Majority party, make no mistake about it. The NPP will win a decisive Majority on December 7. And why are we going to win a decisive Majority? It is because of the work we have done. We are getting support across every constituency because of the work we have done."
Bawumia continued, "The NDC is desperate to experience the Majority for six weeks after being in the minority for eight years because they know they are losing."
"When the former President was in office, he told us that all the meat was finished, and we were left with the bones."
