Transition Alert: UK Shifts Visa Services in Ghana.

The UK government has emphasized that the new VAC shift aims to enhance the efficiency and overall experience at the visa application center.

From October 22, 2024, Ghanaians seeking visas to the United Kingdom must use a new visa application center (VAC) managed by VFS Global. This change comes as the UK government transitions from its previous third-party service provider, TLScontact, to VFS Global in Ghana. Even individuals who initiated their applications with TLScontact will now need to finalize the process through VFS Global.

The UK government has emphasized that this shift aims to enhance the efficiency and overall experience at the visa application center. According to official statements, the new VAC will offer improved services, such as shorter biometric verification and faster submission procedures. The switch is part of the UK’s broader strategy to provide high quality visa services through its global network of third-party managed centers under the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) framework.

The new visa application center will be located on the Mezzanine Floor of the Grand Oyeeman Building on South Liberation Link in Accra. The UK government has assured applicants that the transition will not impact the outcome of visa applications, processing timelines, or fees. Individuals affected by the change will be notified via email, ensuring they receive relevant instructions for completing their applications with the new service provider.

Marc Owen, the Director for Visa, Status, and Information Services at UKVI, described the opening of the new center as a significant step forward in delivering world-class visa services. He highlighted the importance of introducing digital innovations to improve customer convenience and streamline the visa process.

The decision to switch providers reflects the UK’s ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards in its visa operations worldwide. While VFS Global takes over operations in Ghana, applicants can expect a seamless transition with minimal disruption. The UK government has reiterated that applicants should not worry about the change, as it will not alter their visa outcomes or processing durations.

This development aligns with the UK’s objective to ensure a smoother, more customer-friendly application experience for travelers worldwide. The British authorities have also reaffirmed their intent to notify applicants promptly and offer guidance throughout the transition. With this new arrangement, Ghanaians traveling to the UK can expect improved services at the VAC, making the visa application process more efficient and accessible.
